2/30

Day 2 done and dusted. I was hoping that by waiting to ride until this afternoon that the wind would have died down but it was still pretty blustery. Of course, on the outward half of the ride this was most pleasant but I wasn't looking forward to the return leg! As I got near Horwich I realised that there must have been a football match this afternoon as it was traffic hell and there were people wandering everywhere getting in the way. Most inconsiderate. A slightly uphill sprint away from some lights quickly reminded me that my chest is far from recovered and then turning for home I hit the full force of the wind. I was slowed to a crawl and grovelled pretty much the rest of the way home. At least the fixed gear meant I couldn't shift into an easier gear and ride even more slowly!
I'm sat here now eating a lovely pea & leek risotto. That should aid recovery :)

Go into the wind first next time. I did that for the first bit of my ride until the wind turned offshore. Gah!

For short rides (an hour or so), going that way would be rubbish as I'd be mostly riding in town.

Today was more like it.

I couldn't drink at the Ball so woke up reasonably bright. By the time I'd walked dogs There was no way I was doing an hour on the turbo or spending time dragging a bike out of the shed and faffing about going out. Pop on some shorts and down the gym for 20 minutes each of rowing (5000m), steps (100 floors), and swimming (1000m).
